Levada dos Tornos - Lombo do Urzal - Fajã do Penedo
The Levada dos Tornos originates in Boaventura, in Lombo do Urzal, on the Ribeira do Porco, and is the longest levada (irrigation channel) in Madeira, stretching approximately 106 km. This route begins in Lombo do Urzal, climbing a path (an old royal road) that leads to the levada (approximately 1.5 km uphill).
Once you reach the levada, turn left, following the watercourse. From here, follow the levada for another 8 km to the levada operator's house, where you descend a dirt road for about 1.5 km to the Fajã do Penedo area, where the walk ends.
Throughout the route, you can admire the rural landscape of Boaventura, the Laurissilva forest, and several waterfalls.
