Excursions in Madeira: Northern Wonders

For unsurpassed ocean and island views take a Strawberry World tour of the North! Leaving Funchal, Madeira’s capital, we follow the Eastern coast making our first stop in Porto da Cruz. Our drive continues through Faial and stops at Cabanas de São Jorge, a unique village overlooking the sea and surrounded by mountains and vineyards that shows off some of Madeira’s most spectacular scenery.

We will have our lunch stop in Ponta Delgada, a picturesque village where the natural surroundings can be admired at their best. Heading further west along the wild north coastline we come to São Vicente, idyllically set in a most beautiful valley where you will be able to visit the best underground volcanic features ever found in the Island, São Vicente Caves.

The return journey takes you through stunning valleys and ravines carved into the island over millions of years, passing the beautiful zone of Ribeira Brava before heading back to your hotel with the memory of something really breathtaking.
